چکیده

T paper presents a utility function model of donors who need to determine their donation to a charity organization that structures and publishes donations by tiers. By considering the prestige associated with each tier level, our analysis suggests that a tiered scheme generates an incentive for donors to raise their donation to the next tier when the originally intended donation is close to the minimum amount for the next tier level. In addition, we develop a decision analysis tool to illustrate how a charity can evaluate the effectiveness of different tier structures. Using publicly available federal tax return data and actual donations to a private high school, we present a method to estimate the model parameters. By taking other nonquantifiable factors into consideration, our tool can guide a charitable organization to determine an effective fundraising tier strategy.

A Better Method for Analyzing the Costs and Benefits of Fundraising at Universities

This article develops a new methodology for a more comprehensive and useful analysis of the costs and benefits of fundraising, as well as the total costs and net benefits associated with development efforts in general. This approach does a better job of linking the timing of return of fundraising efforts and measuring the actual return on investments in fundraising (as opposed to the reported r...

Evaluating Cost Efficiency in Fuzzy Environment by Using Expected Value

Today, one of the most fundamental issues within the field of industrial and nonindustrial activities is evaluate the costs performance of the units which are associated with industrial and nonindustrial activities. Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a nonparametric method for evaluating performance. Fuzzy sets theory is a powerful tool for mentioning ambiguous situations. Traditional DEA model...

Steel Buildings Damage Classification by damage spectrum and Decision Tree Algorithm

Results of damage prediction in buildings can be used as a useful tool for managing and decreasing seismic risk of earthquakes. In this study, damage spectrum and C4.5 decision tree algorithm were utilized for damage prediction in steel buildings during earthquakes. In order to prepare the damage spectrum, steel buildings were modeled as a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) system and time-history...

Performance Evaluation of Supply Chain under Decentralized Organization Mechanism

Abstract Nowadays among many evaluation methods, data envelopment analysis has widely used to evaluate the relative performance of a set of Decision Making Units (DMUs). Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA(is a mathematical tool for evaluating the relative efficiency of a set Decision Making Units (DMUs), with multiple inputs and outputs. Traditional DEA models treat with each DMU as a “black box" t...
